Frequently asked WEDDING questions
Q. Are you available for our wedding?
A. I get booked up to two years in advance so never think you are asking too soon! Popular days such as Friday and Saturday book up quicker but Tuesday and Thursday and Sunday weddings are also very popular. The best thing is to get in touch straight away and find out. About 50% of inquiries I get are for dates I am already booked.
Q. Do you travel for weddings?
A. Most of my weddings are in the Leinster counties. Inparticular … Dublin, Wicklow, Wexford, Meath and Kildare. I also do weddings on the west coast of Ireland (where my family is originally from). For weddings outside of Leinster I charge €200 to cover possible accommodation and fuel. This is because I usually stay the night before the wedding close to the venue so I arrive fresh to photograph your prep.
For destination weddings travel and accommodation usually for a minimum of three nights will be covered by the couple and a possible per diem.
Q. Do we need to meet?
A. Meeting is always good but not necessary. I do most of my meetings now on SKYPE. This is especially helpful if you live abroad or both work busy schedules. Some of the best weddings I have worked on have been for couples who I have never met or talked to until the day of the wedding!
Q. Will you be the photographer?
A. I will be the photographer on your wedding day. You will get all my experience of working at weddings.
Q. DO WE NEED A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER?
A. The majority of weddings I photograph alone or with an assistant. This helps with my photojournalistic style. This is perfect for weddings that are all happening at one location. If you are looking for a second photographer to capture for example groom prep which maybe happening several miles from the bridal prep. I would suggest booking a second photographer. Many of my previous assistants have progressed to be full time wedding photographers and I can book one of them for €400 until dinner bell.
Q. How do we book?
A. When everything is agreed I will do up the contract and you can pay a booking fee of €400 or €600 if you are getting photography and cinematography. Payments can be made by credit card or by bank transfer. All my invoices have my bank and company details on them.
Two months before your wedding I will get in touch to get the final details and include your invoice for the final balance. This should be paid 30 days before your wedding.
Q. Are you insured?
A. Yes. I am fully insured and tax compliant. I travel to all weddings with spare equipment.
